Hello everyone
I tried using the cruise control on my two-week old S3. Wow, what a mess! When engaged, the steering decides to have a mind of its own. At high speeds (over 60 mph), when the cruise control is engaged, the steering goes "limp". I must constantly manage the steering wheel as the car will wander with the slightest bump in the road. Additionally, the feel is like I am driving a 1960's GM power steering car. No feel whatsoever. There is no consistency to the feel or response to inputs. At lower speeds (say, 40 mph), the steering tightens up a bit but still has an inconsistent response to steering inputs.
This is not only distracting, but also scary and perhaps a safety hazard.
Has anyone else had this problem?
The earliest service appointment I can get at the dealership where I purchased the car is late July!!!!
Thanks

Did you ever get this resolved? I have the same exact problem with my RS3. I think it might be linked to the adaptive cruise control. I'll try and mess with it today or early next week by turning the adaptive CC off and see what happens. BTW, I'm also in Austin.

I was "nearly" correct. The problem is the "Lane Guidance" button on the end of the TURN SIGNAL lever. Push that button until you get a message that Lane Guidance is disabled. The cruise control then works perfect, just like you would expect. Then, push the button again and you'll get a message that "Lane Guidance" is on and all your problems return. I don't think there is any adjustment (that the owner can do) to adjust the sensitivity of this button so I guess it's a software issue.
