Hi guys
Just got a battery not charging warning. Found this oily/greasy brown crud sprayed all around the alternator area. I guess the aux belt is slipping due to this. Any ideas where it's coming from. It doesn't smell like engine oil.
Thanks

Spray looks as though it have come from the alternator. Is it possible that it would have this grease/oil in the alternator itself?

Is there some sort of oil filled pulley on the alternator? Looks like there's some sort of material hanging out of it here.

I've found that my car has an "alternator overrun pulley" and it has failed. It should freewheel when turned clockwise (T50 torx head bolt down the centre of a 33 tooth spline fitting) and lock up when turned anticlockwise but mine doesn't. Replacement on order for delivery tomorrow along with the 33 tooth spline tool.
