8V MPG expectations?

So.

I think I'm about to buy an 8V S3, but just wanted to gather some feedback on real-world MPG.

I recently sold my AMG E55 W211 Supercharged V8 and replaced it with a Nissan Leaf. A top spec leaf with all the toys, big battery and 160KW motor but even still I am having regrets.

Thankfully We Buy Any Car are currently offering more than I paid Nissan for the car, so I have an out, and I'm seriously considering taking it.

So the 8V S3. Audi say the Auto is capable of 47.9MPG highway...

My daily commute is an 80 mile round trip up and down the M5 & M4. I don't mind doing this at 65~70MPH and taking it super easy, I'm very relaxed on workdays - I just like to have power on tap for leisure time.

What can I realistically expect MPG wise?

not sure where that come from? but that's way off.


your lucky to hit high 20mpg's.
you'll be normally in the low 20 mpg's. and if you get on it, assume to be in the teens.
you can prob get into the 30's with an A3.

Yeah that sounds about right. I measure total miles between fill ups and it seems like I fill at around 270-276 miles. I didn’t realize how much gas stage 1 drinks to the point I’m reconsidering flashing back again.

remember it could also be your having some fun as well.

if you have the cobb accessport, i would recommend getting a protune. and ask for a second map for conservative mpg driving. the tuner can mode it to a way better mpg spec.

other platforms cant do this. ots maps and flashes suck in that fashion.

i have a good feeling if you get that conservative map you might be able to get into the higher 20s mpg.


also don't forget about air in the tires and an annual wheel alignment. these two are huge.
i used to get around the low 30s mpg. with these methods.

I get around 30 mpg around town but that’s with my grandchildren in the car. On a run 70mph 39/40 mpg. Putting my foot down im down to about 30 on a run stage 1 tune

My average for the 19k of ownership for my RS3 8v is 29mpg. The most I have ever done going 60mph on a motorway was 40.7mpg (just to test over 10 miles).
With the TTE855 fitted I’m expecting an average of 25mph, hopefully no worse.

With the TTE855 turbo fitted and cruising on the motorway at 75mph I am getting 29.8mpg which is probably on 3-4 less than before.

What fuel are you using? I use Shell 99 or the new Esso fuel which is also 99.
