Transmission issue

Hi there just wondering if anyone has had any similar issue with there Audi s3 1.8t 2002, when driving theres a noise coming from the front gearbox sounding like so thing is catching. Increase noise with road speed I put the car on the ramp and spun up in second gear and both front wheels spinning up the same speed as well as n/s/r but o/s/r jolting struggling to spin up. If I spin the wheel up myself by hand the noise from the from gearbox stops.

I am right in thinking I have a rear diff issue or anyone behave and other ideas?
